Enos Bontrager Creates Pride Furniture
Like many successful businesses in America, it all started with a dream.
The dream began on a farm in southern Wisconsin.
There wasn't a lot of time for playing around, but Enos loved the few winter days that he was able to spend working in the wood shop. Enos's family was Amish, so there wasn't the luxury of a lot of fancy tools. At 18 years of age, Enos left the Amish way of life, but the enjoyment and satisfaction of beginning with a piece of wood, then creating a functional work of art lingered with him.
Raising a family didn't leave a lot of time for dreaming.
Enos and Barb were married in 1987 and were blessed with three healthy children over the next few years. Enos worked in home construction and interior finishing. This helped him gain some additional experience and knowledge, and fueled his desire to create with wood.
All of the cabinets and furniture created by Pride Furniture are individually hand-crafted to ensure quality.
It's important to have the right tools for the job. Precise and technical equipment allow craftsmen to maintain the integrity of the products while maximizing efficiencies to make the products affordable.
Today, Enos and three other skilled craftsmen work in a climate-controlled shop in Cambria, Wisconsin. Adjacent to the shop is a retail store/show room where customers can admire and purchase the quality furniture that is destined to become a family heirloom.
Finally it came time to pursue his dream.
Both Enos and Barb believe Zig Ziglar's words: "You can have everything you want in life if you just help enough other people get what they want".
And so the new business began in 1992 in the basement of their home in Friesland, Wisconsin with a few tools from Sears. Enos takes a great deal of pride in his craftsmanship; thus the name, Pride Furniture, was born.
